Mitchell Young is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of International Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. His research is focused on the policies and governance of higher education and science in the European Union - both internally as a form of European integration and externally, through science diplomacy, as a tool in foreign policy. He is chair of the ECPR Standing Group on Knowledge Politics and Policies and a member of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance. He served as a work package leader for the Horizon 2020 project ‘Using science for/in diplomacy for addressing global challenges’ (S4D4C) and was a member of the EU Working Group on ‘Using science diplomacy strategically to tackle geopolitical challenges in a fragmented multipolar world’. He holds a Ph.D. in Area Studies from Charles University, an M.A. from University of Chicago, and a B.A. from Williams College.
