Prof. Zhao Long is Deputy Director and Senior Fellow of the Institute for International Strategic and Security Studies as well as Director of the Center for Maritime and Polar Studies at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). His research focuses on global governance, major power relations, maritime and Arctic affairs. He published extensively in academic journals and policy platforms on these topics. Prof. Zhao was a visiting scholar at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in Berlin and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. From 2015 to 2016, he served on secondment to the Department of Treaty and Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC.
