Dr. Riva is a research fellow at Bocconi University, BAFFI Centre on Economics, Finance and Regulation – RULES Unit, where he is P.I. for the “Transforming Health and Care Systems” project “EMA-FRAILTY”. He is a qualified attorney, holding a master in law & economics and a research doctorate in Private and EU Law from University of Pavia and a PhD (Marie Curie) in Information and Communication from University College Dublin. He has been a Fulbright-Shuman visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab, where he is Connection Science fellow. He is non-residential fellow at the Information Society Law Center, University of Milan, fellow at Centro Insubria Studi Politici, Insubria University, and fellow at Bocconi Institute for Europea Policymaking. He is Chairman of the COST Action 24169 Science in Diplomacy Network (SiDnet). His research addresses Law (Data Proection), Neurotechnologies and Human Enhancement with focus on data economy, mental privacy and cognitive warfare.
