Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is a renowned physicist and climate scientist specializing in quantum physics, complex systems, and sustainability science. He was the founding director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and pioneered various fields in climate science. Recently, Schellnhuber founded Bauhaus Earth, a research-driven think and make tank focusing on regenerative architecture.

He currently serves as Director General of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria. With over 300 scientific publications, he is globally recognized by Clarivate as a “Highly Cited Researcher” and advised global leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and Pope Francis. He has received numerous prestigious honours, including the Blue Planet Prize and Germany’s Grand Cross of Merit.
