Head of the Department for Coordination of International Cultural and Scientific Relations (AECID-MAUC)

Santiago Sierra González del Castillo holds an MA in History (Extraordinary Awards), as well as an MA in Law (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). He joined the Spanish Diplomatic Service in 2010, serving in Peru, Guinea, Poland, and the Madrid HQ. He currently leads the Department for Coordination of Cultural and Scientific Relations of AECID (Spanish Agency for International Cooperation). The Department he heads carries out internationalization activities of the Spanish science, technology, and innovation system through the Cultural and Scientific Counselors of the Spanish Embassies, in collaboration with the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers and Scientists Abroad (RAICEX). He also coordinates relations with UNESCO, including management of the Spain-UNESCO Cooperation Funds-in-Trust.
