Ms Mabuza has 19+ years of progressive experience in the public sector engaging and negotiating with international agencies in an effort to increasing bilateral science, technology and innovation (STI) investments towards the South African science system and marketing the country as a preferred science destination. She has been dealing with a wide range of policy issues related to science and innovation, as well as specific innovative initiatives.

She is currently serving as Minister Counsellor: Science & Innovation at the South African Mission in Brussels where she is seconded by the Department of Science and Innovation. She is responsible for managing and strengthening STI collaboration between South Africa and the European Union (EU) and its Member States at a bilateral level. Previously, she served as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. She also served for five and half years as a Minister Counsellor: Science & Technology in Japan. Earlier in her career Ms Mabuza was a Deputy Director for Development Partnerships where she worked on innovative projects to attract donor funding to South Africa and the region and she was an Assistant Director for Overseas Bilateral Cooperation in the Department.
