Izaskun Lacunza is the General Director of FECYT.
She holds a MSc degree in Food Science and Technology and a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, complemented by executive training in Public Sector Governance from ESADE. Izaskun Lacunza is a recognized expert in scientific advisory projects, mobility and attraction of scientific talent, open science, and gender equality in research. She served as Director of the Public Policy Department at FECYT and as Coordinator of the Science and Technology Office of the Spanish Congress (Office C). Her expertise extends internationally: she was the Executive Director of LIBER, the Network of European Research Libraries, where she spearheaded her partners' engagement with the open science movement and European collaborative projects. Izaskun has also made valuable contributions to academic and policy-oriented publications. These include the C-Reports of the Science and Technology Office of the Spanish Parliament, alongside articles on topics such as research mobility and science diplomacy.
