Ambassador Dr. Macharia Kamau, Ed.M., D.Sc., CBS, is a distinguished diplomat, development leader, and advocate for sustainability. He currently serves as a member of the Global Commission on Science Missions for Sustainability under the International Science Council, Director at Equity Group Foundation and Victoria Wealth Management, and Senior Advisor to the Trade Development Bank Group. He chairs the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund Advisory Group in New York.

With over 30 years in diplomacy and development, Ambassador Kamau has held senior UN roles, including UNDP Resident Coordinator, UNICEF Representative, and Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN. He co-led the landmark negotiations on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030, and has also advised the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

He is decorated nationally and internationally for his service, and remains a passionate advocate for science, peace, climate action, and sustainable development.
