Andrei Polejack (he/his) is the Director for Research and Innovation at INPO – the Brazilian National Institute for Ocean Research. A biologist by training, he holds an MSc in Evolutionary Ecology from the University of Brasília (Brazil) and a PhD in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University (Sweden). He previously served as Coordinator for Ocean, Antarctica, and Geosciences at the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, leading initiatives to strengthen marine and polar research. With more than 20 years of experience in ocean science, he has represented Brazil in international negotiations on ocean governance, biodiversity, and climate change, helping bridge scientific knowledge with global policy frameworks. He is a UN–Nippon Foundation of Japan fellow and contributing author of UNESCO’s Global Ocean Science Report. His research explores Ocean Science Diplomacy and the science–policy interface, with a strong engagement in post- and decolonial approaches to international relations.
