Susanne Ditlevsen is the President of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters and a statistician with a strong interdisciplinary profile spanning stochastic processes, nonlinear dynamics, and mathematical modelling in biology and climate science. Her research focuses on statistical methods for detecting critical transitions in complex systems, such as climate tipping points. In 2023, she co-authored a widely publicized article in Nature Communications on the potential collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), which received global media attention. She is currently engaged in statistical ecology, with a particular focus on marine mammals in the Arctic.
