Luk Van Langenhove obtained his PhD in psychology in 1987 at the VUB, where he started as a researcher. In 1995 he became Deputy Secretary General of the Belgian federal science policy office (Belspo). In 2000 he joined the UN as founding director of UNU-CRIS where he was until 2017. He returned to the VUB where he became academic director of the Institute of European Studies and scientific coordinator of EL-CSID, a Horizon2020 project on science diplomacy. He is currently Chief Editor of the journal “Frontiers in Science Diplomacy”. His academic work covers several SSH domains. Together with Rom Harré he developed Positioning Theory.
