Alessandra Tognonato is an Italian diplomat currently serving as the Head of science diplomacy and bilateral scientific cooperation at the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Rome.
She entered the Foreign Service in 2021. She served as Consul of Italy in Buenos Aires (2004-2007) and as Deputy Head of Political Office in Berlin. After returning to Italy in 2012, she was Deputy Head of the Non Proliferation and Disarmament Office.
Subsequently she was Head of the Consular Chancery and Coordinator for migration issues in Cairo (2015-2018) and Head of Press & Communication Office and Spokesperson of the Italian Embassy in Berlin (2018-2022).
