Marcella Ohira is IAI’s Deputy Executive Director. She has launched innovative capacity building programs to foster science-policy-diplomacy, science advice, and multinational networks, such as the Science, Technology and Policy (STeP) Fellows Program and the Transdisciplinary Seed Grant program for IAI’s 19 member countries. Furthermore, Marcella has organized over 80 training events on policy relevant global change issues. She leads the recently established IAI Science Diplomacy Center promoting science diplomacy capacity building and collaboration across the Americas. Before joining the IAI, Marcella worked in international cooperation for Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Organization (NOAA).
