Maria Josten studied Political Economics at the University of Bonn, Germany. Since 2005, she has been working for the German Aerospace Center/ Project Management Agency (DLR) in the field of European and International Cooperation. She is a science diplomacy expert dealing with several activities on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) like the strategic development of the internationalization strategy. Furthermore, in the EU project “Using science for/in diplomacy for solving global challenges” (S4D4C) she led the work package on ‘Training and knowledge resources’ and co-authored S4D4C’s training materials and training toolkits. Currently, she leads a Task Force on Capacity Building within the European Union Science Diplomacy Alliance and supports the European Commission in organising a co-creation process with various stakeholders in the field of Science Diplomacy.
