Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra, he has focused his research career on Human Genetics and its correlation with cancer and rare diseases since 1987, with pre and postdoctoral stays in Lund (Sweden), Manchester (Great Britain), and New York (USA). He also served as an adjunct physician through competitive examination in the Canary Islands Health Service (1997-2000).
He directed the Molecular Cytogenetics Group at the National Center for Oncological Research from 2001 to 2017 and served as Scientific and Innovation Director and founder at NIMGenetics, a Genomic Biotechnology company, from 2017 to 2019.
In addition, he has authored over 170 articles in international scientific journals and has played a role in directing nationally and internationally competitive research projects. He has received awards such as the Best Young Researcher in Human Genetics (1999), the Plaque of Honor from the Spanish Association of Scientists (2000), and the Academic Talent Award from the Spanish newspaper Cinco Días (2013).
